Interesting… I have good news – and no one to tell

We’ve gotten into the habit of doing our taxes in October. I guess it’s the one thing I put off until the last possible minute. So I was working online doing my taxes and discovered we’re going to get a refund! Couldn’t come at a better time.

My husband isn’t home and so I wanted to call a friend to share that really good news. What a little jolt to discover that I have no one to call. My friends are all apparently going through big challenges – back surgery, bankruptcy, separation and more. I know that all my good news (and there’s lots) is sometimes hard to hear when they have been having such a hard time.

I guess what I’ve learned is that most people feel somehow hurt by others having a good life when they are having a hard time of it.

It’s not they don’t want you to have it. It’s that they don’t want to hear about it too much. I imagine it’s because they are comparing (minds like to do that) and they feel dopey  or something uncomfortable for having so much stuff in their life and your  life looks so good.

We’ll I’m sharing it with you and I’ve learned something from it too.
